Lenovo’s ThinkPad line has been widely regarded as the company’s flagship business-class laptop over the past few years. Each year has always come with an upgrade. 2018, Lenovo Thinkpad L480 comes featuring the performance, security, and portability users need. The Lenovo ThinkPad runs on Windows 10 Home Edition.

The framework of the Lenovo ThinkPad L480 has undergone significant changes compared to its predecessor. The now non-removable battery leads to an overall thinner bodywork compared to the ThinkPad L470. However, even with the upgrade Lenovo ThinkPad L480 is very basic, staying true to its ThinkPad lineage.

The ThinkPad L480 sports a functional, all-black, plastic design measuring a dimension of 13.2 x 9.3 x 0.9 inches and weighs 1.68 kg which is 13% lighter and 8% thinner than the previous generation. This laptop is sizable, but not too bulky making it perfect for carrying around the entire day.  The soft-touch coating, which makes it feel surprisingly luxurious at hand.

This 14-inch laptop come with a Full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display. There is also an anti-glare coating that allows you to use your laptop even under direct sunlight without experiencing any distractions such as reflections. It measured 208 nits of brightness.

The 180° folding hinge on this laptop lets you lay the display completely flat, so you can easily share on-screen content with onlookers.

The L480 comes with a fantastic typing experience. It has a solid keyboard; the keys offer 1.5 millimeters of travel, full-sized standard layout and require 70 grams of force to actuate, meaning key presses feel satisfying and responsive. The red TrackPoint ball sits at the meeting point among the G, H, and B keys. The keys are quiet, as well, though some might find them to be on the mushy side. The slight change on the keyboard’s layout which could raise eyeball is the swapped location of the Ctrl and Fn keys on the left side. On the right side, there’s a Print Screen button jammed between the Alt and Ctrl key, which is less of a problem and just an odd place to put a Print Screen button. The 3.9 x 2.7-inch touchpad is fine for the most part, but it does not respond well to two-finger commands. `

hardware options, you get up to the latest 8th generation Intel Core i7-8550U processor accompanied by an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 620 or a dedicated AMD Radeon 530 graphics card that will ensure all the power you need for your various business tasks. The ThinkPad L480 is equipped with a webcam. Simply touching the fingerprint scanner helps access your L480, or the use your face with Windows Hello facial recognition software helps to log in automatically. The fingerprint reader thwarts biometric hacking with anti-spoofing technology which means the fingerprint image is saved inside the chip, and as such, it’s not sent out for login authentication when you sign in.

Data are also protected, with the discrete Trusted Platform Module (dTPM), which encrypts your information. Lastly, Fast Identity Online (FIDO) enables hardened authentication that wraps your access info in three layers of security. FIDO authentication pertains to your online credentials, when you sign in to websites like Facebook or Google, or make payments via PayPal, Visa, etc. This global solution creates better security for online services, reduces costs for organizations, and is simpler and safer for users.
