MediaTek Launches Helio G70 chipset for Mid-Range Devices

MediaTek has introduced yet another brand-new gaming- oriented chipset for entry-level phones. The growth and updates among phones is drastic, likewise improvement in mobile games, consoles and computers, thus, there is the need for hardware also needs to improve and stir up their games.

MediaTek officially launched the Helio G70 series processors to enhance the gaming experience for mid-range devices. With the launch of Helio G70 and G70T chipsets  MediaTek is smoothly targeting the more affordable end of the market compare to the Helio G90 and G90T released in late 2019 which is more premium .

The MediaTek Helio G70 houses a pair of 2Ghz Arm Cortex-A75 CPUs and six Cortex-A55 processors in a single, octa-core cluster. These interlinked CPUs share a large L3 cache with claim to ensure improved performance. It comes paired with Arm Mali-G52 class graphics processor that operates up to a speedy 820MHz.

The main CPU cores are Cortex-A75 rather instead of the Cortex-A76 ones found in the Helio G90 chips. The clock speed is also limited to 2.0GHz with the smaller Cortex-A55 cores slightly underclocked at 1.7GHz rather than the 2.0GHz clock found on the Helio G90T.

The chipset also brings on the table up to 8GB of fast LPDDR4X memory. For gaming, an efficient, high-performance. Together these are controlled by MediaTek’s CorePilot, which maintains a reliable, consistent performance regardless of how long you’re in-game with Android Neural Networks API (Android NNAPI). As well as, developers and device makers that have the best possible ecosystem for Android enhancements and app development, with support for many common AI frameworks.

The MediaTek Helio G70 also features support for up to 48MP cameras and  and 1080p FHD displays. It also has the support for up to dual cameras comprising wide angle, telescopic, macro or other lens setups.

According to the company, the chipset is built on generations of photographic excellence in MediaTek Helio, the G70 includes a multitude of hardware accelerator, such as a dedicated depth engine, Camera Control Unit (CCU), Electronic Image Stabilization (EIS) and Rolling Shutter Compensation (RSC) technology that enhances video panning and ultra-fast recording (up to 240fps).

One of the alluring additional features of the The MediaTek Helio G70 is that it builds in VoW (voice on wakeup) capability, which optimizes platform size and minimizes power use for voice assistant services. It also supports fast AI performance which is ideal for popular AI-camera tasks such as object recognition (Google Lens), Smart Photo Album, scene detection and segmentation with background removal, and Bokeh-shot enhancements.

The chipset come with the secure ISP design which means the hardware supports facial recognition actions such as smartphone unlocking are ultra-fast, highly accurate and add a new layer of security.

However, there is no support for 5G on the chips. But the company added another juicy feature, MediaTek’s HyperEngine tech. This tech helps enhance overall gaming performance.

For connectivity, the chip support dual 4G VoLTE for exceptional voice and video call quality, faster connection setup time, more reliable coverage and lower power consumption. Meanwhile, 802.11ac connectivity provides fast Wi-Fi performance, while Bluetooth/Wi-Fi co-existence simplifies product design and assures a reliable user experience.

Likewise, it comes with the company’s leading intertial navigation engine which compensates when indoors, underground or driving through tunnels. With the ability to understand its orientation and direction, the G70 can be placed or held in any position – separating orientation from inertial readings when GNSS is unavailable.
