Xiaomi officially unveiled its first smartwatch the Mi Watch. Although, company is not new in the wearable business, this new MI smartwatch initiates the company into the smartwatch category. The company has a high success record with fitness tracking devices like the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 with the help of another Chinese company Huami.
Xiaomi Mi Watch Overview
The Mi Watch looks strikingly similar to an Apple Watch. It has a 44mm face covered by a 1.78-inch AMOLED screen with resolution of 410 x 410 pixels with a pixel density of 326dpi. The smartwatch comes with two design and strap option. These includes an aluminum body and strap model, and the stainless steel bezel and strap.
Xiaomi Mi Watch sports a square body with rounded edges along with a crown and a button on the right side. The crown is placed at the exact same position as the Apple Watch
The Smartwatch comes with a toughened curved glass on top. A microphone on both sides, and a loudspeaker on the left with charging pins and a heart rate monitor sitting on the rear of the watch. According to the company, the Mi watch display is claimed to have anti-glare properties.
Xiaomi Mi Watch is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 3100 4G processor for smart wearables. The chipset uses four Cortex A7 cores clocked at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of storage for smooth performance.
It’s paired with a 570mAh battery, which Xiaomi says should last for 36 hours on a single charge.
It also run on MIUI for Watch interface which is based on Google’s Wear OS platform. The OS is designed to support the stripped-down version of common apps like Tasks, Notes, recorder, Mi Home, Maps, etc.
The Mi Watch will support more than 100 different watch faces along with support for custom always-on-displays. The smartwatch has dedicated applets to control Mi Home appliances and other products like table lamps and air purifiers. Aside from this, the watch currently supports 40 popular apps like QQ Messenger, QQ Music, Keep for fitness tracking, flight information app Umetrip, and many others.
Xiaomi’s Mi Watch can detect up to ten different forms of physical activities like walking, running, swimming, up-hill running, treadmill, general workout with wights, etc. Besides continuous heart rate measuring, the watch can also display VO2 max.
Xiaomi claims the watch supports FIRSTBEAT, an algorithm certified by more than 1,000 European sports organizations for accurate and in-depth health data. Besides measuring fitness-related stats, the watch is also capable of detecting when you might have an elevated heart rate despite any physical activity and could be stressed out.
The Mi Watch is also 4G capable by making use of an eSIM to continue all phone functions without needing to be actively connected to your smartphone.
Other features such as WiFi, GPS, NFC (for payments in China), Bluetooth, and heart rate monitoring are all included. Other fitness-centric features include blood oxygen sensors, sleep tracking, body energy monitoring and the device is also water resistant for swimming.
How much is Xiaomi Mi Watch?
The watch cmes in two variant, thus, the standard aluminum version of the Mi Watch will cost 1299 RMB ($186) (₦67,332). The exclusive stainless steel version will cost 1999 RMB ($286) (103532) and will be released in December.
