Samsung mobile has launched two new entry-level smartphones, the Samsung Galaxy A12 and Samsung Galaxy A02s ahead of 2021. These new smartphones come with improved features compared to their predecessors A11 and A01s. They both feature a 6.5-inch display and offer long-lasting battery life, a big immersive display, and powerful cameras at affordable prices.
These are budget-friendly phones, and the Galaxy A12, as well as the Galaxy A02s come in four colour options namely Black, Blue, Red, and White.

Samsung Galaxy A02s specifications
Samsung Galaxy A02s features a 6.5-inch HD+ Infinity V display with a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera. The plastic body is beautifully crafted with curved edges and thin bezels. It is smooth and sleek with modern finishing, although the body might not have been the best for rugged use it can still withstand rough situations.
It is powered by an unspecified octa-core Snapdragon 450 processor, a 1.8GHz chipset paired with 3GB RAM, and 32GB storage that is further expandable via a microSD card. As for the cameras, the Samsung Galaxy A02s has three cameras at the back, which are a 13MP primary sensor, a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots, and a 2MP macro unit for close up shots. There is a 5MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats.
In addition, the phone packs a 5,000mAh battery and supports 15W fast charging. Unfortunately, the device does not come with a headphone jack and a fingerprint sensor seems to be missing.
Samsung Galaxy A12 specifications
Samsung Galaxy A12 also sports a 6.5-inch HD+ Infinity V display which offers a standard 60Hz refresh rate with a waterdrop notch for the selfie camera. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 83.4% with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio and measures a dimension of 164 x 75.8 x 8.9 mm. The TFT screen has 720 x 1560 pixels which results in 264 PPI per density, thus, delivering sharper images with more details in immaculate natural colors.
The Samsung Galaxy A12 is powered by MediaTek Helio P35 chip, an octa-core processor that clocked at 2.3GHz. The phone comes in three models: 3GB, 4GB, and 6GB RAM paired with 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB storage that is further expandable via a microSD card slot for memory expansion.
The Samsung Galaxy A12 has quad cameras at the back consisting of a 48MP primary sensor, a 5MP ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP depth sensor for portrait shots, and a 2MP macro unit for close up shots. There is an 8MP snapper on the front for selfies and video chats.
Above all, the phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor for security and a massive 5,000mAh battery with 15W fast-charging support. Connectivity features include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, and USB Type-C port for charging and data sync.
The two phones are unsurprisingly limited to LTE data. Although Samsung has access to 5G network, it has yet to reach its entry-level phones.
Samsung Galaxy A12 and A02s Price
Samsung will release the Galaxy A12 in Europe this January, with prices starting at €179 ( ₦82,593) for a 64GB model and €199 (₦89,798) for its 128GB counterpart. The Galaxy A02s will follow in February, with Samsung offering the 32GB phone for €150 ((₦67,729).
